Sierra de Cádiz Designation of Origin

To get an idea of the long-standing olive-growing tradition in the Sierra de Cádiz, it suffices to note that the name of its capital, Olvera, derives from the term “olivera.” Similarly, various 18th-century works, such as those by Madoz and Igartuburu, attest to the quantity and quality of the region’s olive oils.

The production area covered by the “Sierra de Cádiz” Protected Designation of Origin encompasses nine municipalities: seven in the province of Cádiz (Alcalá del Valle, Algodonales, El Gastor, Olvera, Setenil de las Bodegas, Torrealhámique, and Zahara de la Sierra) and two in the province of Seville (Coripe and Pruna).

The “Sierra de Cádiz” PDO covers exclusively extra virgin olive oils from the Alameño de Montilla, Arbequina, Hojiblanca, Manzanilla, Picual, Verdial de Cádiz, and Verdial de Huévar varieties, as well as the Lechín de Sevilla, considered the main variety of the designation, accounting for 50% of the total area.

The ‘Sierra de Cádiz’ PDO was recognized in June 2002 by Order of the Regional Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. In February 2005, it was entered in the Community Register as a PDO.

Quality and Sustainability

Since 2001, our organic extra virgin olive oil, Oro Natura, has been certified by the Andalusian Committee for Organic Agriculture (CAAE), the official certifying body that ensures compliance with all requirements and standards regarding organic production, labeling, and monitoring.

Our oils bear the Gusto del Sur label. With this seal, consumers can be assured that they are purchasing Andalusian products endorsed by the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Sustainable Development.

We believe that producing healthy food and caring for the environment go hand in hand, which is why we have been an Integrated Production Group for over 10 years, providing technical advice to our members on how to combine the best of traditional farming techniques with modern, sustainable practices.
